The Next IT Girl is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that educates, mentors, and advances underrepresented young women of color ages 8-22 who are interested in pursuing a technology -related career. We expose these young women to all aspects of computer science and information technology. By supporting broader career options and encouraging all technical interests we provide the support network they need to pursue and successfully excel in the technology industry. Through hands-on workshops, community support, and mentorship we are creating resources that will increase the representation and close the gender and race gap in technology.


Qualifications


Candidate must be able to follow project direction carefully, ask good questions, be a fast learner, and work on detail-intensive tasks – as well as:

• At least 1-2 year experience managing social media accounts for clients on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and company website required

• Expert-level writing, spelling, and grammar skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with a team
• Ability to carefully scrutinize and revise her/his own work
• A knack for idea generating and brainstorming
• Flexibility and team player attitude even when on tight deadlines and under pressure
• Outstanding organizational skills
• Skills in content creation for SEO-friendly blog posts and press releases

• Ideal candidate should have basic knowledge in Squarespace, Gmail, Video/Photo software, – and/or willing to suggest and learn new tech in support of the team.


Responsibilities


• Create comprehensive social media strategies that increase awareness, visibility, and traffic across client brand platforms
• Create, source, curate or edit content that is on-message, accurate, relevant, and timely that clearly speaks in our clients’ diverse brand voices
• Manage all paid social content creation, budgeting, and placements including Facebook and LinkedIn
• Collaborate with key staff across chapters
• Proofread and copy edit materials for clarity, style, tone, spelling, grammar, and consistency
• Ensure materials are on time, error-free, and optimized to deliver on strategy and goals
• Analyze the performance of content across various platforms, report key metrics, and pivot content as needed based on results
